Prescription famotidine is used to treat ulcers,
GERD, erosive esophagitis, and other conditions. Famotidine is in a class of medications called
H2 blockers. It works by decreasing the amount of acid made in the stomach. Famotidine comes
as a tablet and a suspension to be taken by mouth. It is usually taken once daily at bedtime
or 2 to 4 times a day about 15 to 60 minutes before eating. This medication also comes
in injectable form given by a healthcare professional. Common side effects of famotidine include
headache, constipation, diarrhea, and dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until
