Hello everyone, this is Running on Empty … Food Review! Well, hello ladies and gentlemen and everyone watching. This is Running On Empty Food Review. I am your host The Report Of The Week. And here we are for another review. So thankfully, I know I kind of raised some concerns in the last video about hurricane Dorian, you know, they were they weren’t sure if it was going to impact the area or not… What was gonna happen? Thankfully the impacts here weren’t too bad. So, you know, I’m here. I’m in one piece. It’s terrible that some areas did get hit really really bad, especially the Bahamas and I am gonna talk about that a little later. So stay tuned for that! But I am here and I got a lot of requests to do this item. You know one thing that I always pay attention for when it comes down to these food reviews. So I see alright how much interest is there when it comes down to an item, you know? Am I getting, in the most literal sense, a deluge of requests? Are people, you know, just commenting and tweeting and posting and emailing and saying, “Look you gotta try this brah!” “I’m depending on you!” And.. In this case there where there were people saying, “Can you review the new mac and cheese?” “Please!” “from Chick-Fil-A?” And I’m finally getting around to it. Now this was released in August. So it’s not, you know, the world’s most brand new release, though it is fairly new. It’s still out. People are still talking about it. People still want to see it reviewed. So I’m gonna give it a shot. Now while you might be saying mac and cheese, you know, isn’t that uh, I don’t know it’s just it’s like it’s mac and cheese. But yeah, they’ve been making waves about it. People have kind of been talking about it. It’s been making the rounds and yeah, I’m working my way around to it as well. Now the mac and cheese from Chick-Fil-A people are kind of divided on it. Some people are saying it’s like the best mac and cheese that they’ve ever had from any any restaurant ever? And from anywhere, as a matter of fact, even better than what grandma-ma used to make – as some will will use that analogy. Other’s just say it’s terrible. So we’ll, we’ll see. Now that the mac and cheese from Chick-Fil-A is very basic. It’s you know, it’s cut and dry. They’re just saying look: It’s a homestyle mac and cheese and that’s it. That’s all there is to it. You know, we’re not going to be getting those… You know, those, those bacon bits or anything else in there. No uh no ketchup this time around and.. No, you know fine cut steak that’s gonna be mixed in there either. Many suggested it. That’s not gonna happen this time around. So, I’m sorry to disappoint there. It does come with a three-cheese blend. However, it comes with cheddar, mozzarella and romano cheese as I believe, I believe those are the three that comes in usually have my notebook down. I’m trying to go off of memory this time around, but it’s got that three cheese blend there and that’s all that there is to it. Hey, hey, it’s mac and cheese. And that’s we got for you. Now speaking of the three cheese blend the price for this was around the $3.00 range was around three dollars and fifty cents for it and that’s what it comes down to. So, like I said, cut and dry they’re saying hey, we got mac and cheese and that’s it. It’s a side. It’s not the main course how they treat it Anyway, of course if you want to make it your main course, you know? Look, if you pay for it you do anything that you want to do with it. If you want to go and fill up a bathtub or even like a little kiddie pool with the mac and cheese and, you know, swim around in it, then that’s that’s on you! We want we’re gonna treat it anyway like it’s a side. There’s the bag that came in for verification purposes. There’s the thing looking at you. Yeah. And here it is the Chick-Fil-A consumption little thing right there. This just kind of reminds me of like, can’t even say with a straight face, you know, like what Poseidon used to hold there. That’s an awful one that time around. And there’s the mac and cheese receptacle – right there. You can see again, there’s the Chick-Fil-A creature kind of staring you down. You can see though. It’s a … what does what does that say? Let’s get to the bottom of this right there – try to add some little ambiguity – and that’s for the viral marketing campaign. People are gonna be saying, “Get to the bottom of what?” “What are we getting to the bottom of here?” And that’s really gonna get the people talking. Alright, and there it is with the little lid on it and now let’s open this up and see what we see. Well, I can definitely smell the the cheese right there. Guess as one really should and there it is glistening in The Sun. I don’t want to have that dreaded mac and cheese spillage. But there it is right there get that good day time morning, well late morning light going on it. You can see it there. And Let’s see, there we go. There I am right there. There we go. And uh you know what? You know what? Let’s just be really dramatic here, all right? I’m gonna… I’ll point at it with the fork about how about like that? There we go having fun with it for most of it. And look I’ll be completely honest, I’m not the world’s biggest mac and cheese person. But I said, you know what? I’m gonna give it a shot anyway Usually, like I said, I’m not the biggest mac and cheese. I am NOT a mac and cheese connoisseur. But then sometimes I’ll try it out here and there. Yeah. All right, we know what’s in it. Like I said its basic, you know, what’s in it? I know what’s in it. I think that’s all that we need to say about it from that point onward. I’m just gonna try it out of let you know what it tastes like . The mac and cheese from Chick-Fil-A. It’s going in! Oh right here there we go. Look at that! Very very creamy is the first thing that I’m thinking as I’m trying this one out. Let’s take another look fork full. You could pretend I was feeding you there, if you want for some reason? Alright. What does it taste like? Of the three cheese blend the one that is most pronounced is is definitely the cheddar. I think there’s even little little chunks of the cheddar cheese that’s in there. You know, you can taste faint little little hints and I believe its Parmesan cheese. I think I was incorrect earlier when I said mozzarella, and I apologize for that! I think you can taste those faint hints of the the Parmesan cheese there. As well as faint little hints of the Romano cheese. But unfortunately, you know, if you’re a big fan of those two anyway, it’s definitely gonna be that cheddar cheese that you can really taste. That’s just all out there. You know, that’s what you really taste there. Otherwise the noodles themselves are out al dent, you know, they’re definitely very they’re very soft. Now, I always like a little bit more of uh, just you know, a baked overall on my mac and cheese though. It’s very soft. It’s very it’s very creamy, you know even a little bit on that chewier end of the spectrum there. Um, but overall, I mean it’s definitely, I guess the best way to describe it. It’s like it’s very… It’s very hearty. You know? And it is home style. That’s a good way to describe it. It’s definitely rich, of course, it’s cheesy, which is good. I was worried a little bit that it was gonna be on like the watery side of things. That’s one big worry, especially when you’re looking at fast food, you know mass-produced stuff. It’s gonna be just really watery and waterlogged. But no it actually just had that creamy texture that did not devolve again into just being and, like I said, watery. But overall though I would say… like if you compare it to… not too many fast food places have mac and cheese. But like if you compare it to like the Kraft Stuff that you would make at home. Or the the powder stuff? This this is much better than that. Let me just say that again. I’m not a mac and cheese aficionado but compared to most of like like the, you know, fast food stuff the low-end stores stuff going and just getting the Kraft stuff. This is much better than that. This isn’t like on the caliber of what you would get it, uh, you know, if there are any fine dining restaurants that serve macaroni and cheese. You know, but definitely for what it is fast food wise. And it’s priced accordingly as well. So again, you’re a fan of the cheddar cheese. That’s definitely the most pronounced thing there. So out of ten? I mean considering what it is, It’s definitely quality and if you’re a fan of mac and cheese, I think you’ll be a fan of this as well. So go out and try it if you’re interested. I would rate it out of 10? Yeah, I would give it a 7.4 out of 10. Again, definitely for what it’s worth. You know, that’s I think the rating that it deserves. Now on a final note ladies and gentlemen: I don’t know how else to say this. So I kind of wanted to just save it for the end. You know considering what happened with the Bahamas, with hurricane Dorian a terrible, terrible tragedy. You know, you know I’m a huge advocate for radio.
