Pat Hingle, right, who really was all wrong
for the part, but he made himself terrific in it. I mean he came from somewhere in the
South and was supposed to be a New York cop, but he was terrific. And Kate Reed, a wonderful
actress. And Davy Burns – everybody’s dream comedian. He played the old furniture
dealer. And Arthur Kennedy. They were wonderful actors. We have great actors in this country.
They were a terrific group. It was like a string quartet. Their voices were wonderful.
That was fun.
