7 ร้านเด็ด ‘อาหารแขก’ ย่านสีลม-บางรัก | 7 amazing South Asia and Middle East Food in Bangkok

7 Amazing South Asian and Middle Eastern Restaurants! Do you know what this is called? Koobide and Negini Super Ganja Tigayee Moutabel Hummus Babaganoush Sawasdee ka! You’re with me again. And today is another food trip! The theme is really special this time: 7 Amazing South Asian and Middle Eastern Restaurants
in Silom and Bangrak. All the restaurants have been handpicked
by Retty Thailand, the legendary food review application Today, we’ll cover Pakistani, Lebanese, Indian,
Nepali, African, and many more cuisines. Without further ado let’s get our food trip started! Our first restaurant is Anna Purna. The chef is Nepali. But his food is a mixture of Indian and Nepali cuisines. Today, we have quite a crowd because in addition to the Retty Team we’re also joined by five lucky winners
from the “Meet and Eat with Mint” Campaign. Let’s head inside! [May / Film / Som-O / Kitty / Praew / Green]
[Yok / Peck / Diao / Pong / Tos / Mint] What are we here for? Food! We’re here for food! [Okra Stir-fry] What’s in the okra stir-fry? It’s masala. It’s comparable to our Thai chili paste. There’s a lot of variations. Tasty! They make it quite sour here. Very intense. Intense! I love, love, love this! If you want to try the okra
that the guy on the train in India shared with me you can come here. [Palak Paneer] Palak is spinach. Paneer is cheese. It’s usually thicker and creamier in other restaurants. But you can still see spinach in strands in here. Let me give it a taste. Wow, really good! Nice! The cheese is so soft. You can also taste the garlic in the curry. Very garlicky. Very delicious. Are you enjoying the food? Yes! What is the Retty application? It’s an app for food lovers. If our viewers want to use this app,
what do they have to do? It’s available for download for both iOS and Android. For free! Retty has also launched a program for new users. For each review in Retty you’ll get a point. For three posts you’ll get a Retty notebook. For 10 posts you’ll get a flask. And for 30 posts you’ll get a special gift. You’ll have to find out what it is for yourself. Let’s head over to Mohsen! Mohsen Iranian … Restaurant! This is Mohsen Restaurant. Mohsen. I recommend this one. This yogurt is fermented so long
that it’s become carbonated. Pretty much like Calpis Lacto. Try it. Fizzy? So sour! I warned you! [Taste test] How was it? Weird. Pong will describe these dishes to us. Have you ever had Iranian food? Nope. There you go. These are … Koobine and Sotorini. Koobide and Negini Koobide is made of ground beef and lamb. And … Negini Negini is … – Beef
– Beef pieces Koobide Thank you. Is it good? The koobide is amazing. Wow, seriously good! I’ve never tasted any beef or lamb as tender as this. [How to eat] Can I eat that? Take it. Incredible! Really good! This is chicken. Are you ready? Yes. The chicken is so tender. Really? You get tartness from the berries. Wow, it is really tender. And what is this? Crispy rice at the bottom of the pan It’s a special treat. It’s the crust at the bottom of the pan. Wow! Really good! Wanna eat now? How’s your first time tasting Iranian food? Delicious. I’ve never tasted anything like this. Do you know what this is called? I forgot. [I can tell you.] Let’s head over to Saima. How did you find this place? It was introduced to us by a Retty user. It looks more like an office. The sign says
they have African, Arabic, Indian, and Thai food. But we’re here for African food. My next victim … I’m Yok. What is this? Super Ganja. What about this? Tigayee What is it? It’s a peanut sauce. And this is … Foo Foo Foo Foo! Look at how it jiggles. Oh, it’s very similar to pork satay! Very oily It’s not sweet. It’s oily and not sweet at all. And the foo foo is … Bland. It’s made of rice. This is Super Ganja. It’s oily. Aromatic. What’s in here, chef? Do you know mica? Tomotoes Tomatoes? Onions Knor Knor?! Knor. Most African food is on the oily side? Yes. That’s why they’re huge and strong. African people need a lot of energy! Delicious! Certainly different. Where are we going next? Sallim Restaurant. We’ll have some Indian tea and lassi. We’ve arrived at Sallim Restaurant. It’s right next to the Grand Postal Office. I saw this places many times but never actually went in. [Indian tea] Sensitive teeth! What’s special about their tea? The price! It might cost THB60-70 elsewhere. But it’s only THB20 here. It’s sold at the price of your regular iced tea,
but it’s better. The tea is amazing. When you sip it, you’ll feel … Their lassi is also very nice. I can’t believe it’s only THB 30. If you come to the Grand Postal Office drop by this place for somce iced tea and lassi. If you’ve never tried it come here! Next, we’re going to Al Saray to get some Lebanese food! This hybrid restaurant serves Lebanese and Indian food. Let’s go eat! You’ve been here, right? Yes. What’s your recommended dish? This one. This should look very familiar. It’s curry puffs from Saraburi. These are mezzas. They are snacks. I’ve seen something similar in Greece. Yes, it’s similar. What are the fillings? This one is spinach. This one is lamb. And the balls are filled with cheese. And this is chicken. Fried cheese! It’s goat cheese. Nice! Very flavorful I’ve been told this is their best dish. So good you can eat it with nothing else. Yes. This is a different kind of cheese. Oooh, incredible! Soooo good! This is tahini with chickpeas. What’s tahini? It’s made with sesame seeds. And this is tahini with eggplants. It’s called moutabel. This is hummus. There are so many names. They’re beyond me. Babaganoush Which is … Babaganoush !%@ [email protected][email protected] [email protected]#$%^ Very creamy Wow! Very creamy It’s like very fine cream in your mouth. Very refreshing. With Lebanese food, you won’t get too much grease. Wonderful! Totally recommended! Nutty I love it! So satisfying! This is a Turkish restaurant. Let’s head inside Ottoman! This restaurant serves Antep Turkish food. Antep is a region of Turkey close to Syria’s Aleppo. These two cities, Adana and Urfa, are known for their kebab. Adana is on the right of Gaziantep. And Urfa is on the right. Adana has spicy kebab. And Urfa’s kebab is not spicy. Wow, the more you know! These are probably spicy and non-spicy versions. Look at how juicy it is. Whoa, spicy! How is it? The texture reminds me of … Thai fish cakes What? Thai fish cakes. I like the spicy one better. And here are our flatbreads. They are flat and shaped like boats. This one has sausages and cheese. There’s a hint of heat. The sausages are slightly fermented
like Chinese sausages. But they taste different. The bread is really nice. I’ll give them that. They are practically drooling over there. Aren’t you full yet? We’re heading to our last restaurant. But it’s practically storming. It’s just across the street. But there’s no cover for us. So, let me ask our trip mates what they think of the six restaurants we’ve been to. I’m in a food coma. The only thing I’m afraid of
is cockroaches scurrying up from the gutter. The restaurant is called Aji Hali. They serve Indian street food. So, there’s a lot of snacks. What should we get? How about desserts? Custard apple cream? This is Dahi Sev Puri. Listen to the crunch. 1, 2, 3! It’s like there’s curry inside. It’s an explosion of flavor. Once you bite on it … This looks like bird seed. It’s cream and different nuts. It’s nice! It’s nice, but not as good as this. This one’s got me hooked. This is falooda. Falooda. And it is … Indian dessert with assorted fixings. I’m not sure what’s in there exactly. The rose fragrance, strawberry flavor, and sweetness are very forward. This is custard apple? Yes. What do you think? I like the pulpy texture. ARRGGHHHH! The only thing I’m afraid of is cockroaches. It must be the rain. So, some creatures must come up from the gutter. You’re holding an umbrella. It’s raining in here? It’s raining in here. Of course. Let’s finish the video outside. [Run!] This is not a normal occurrence. It’s storming all over Bangkok. It’s really pouring out here. We can’t just leave our food unattended, can we? Today, we’ve done a food tour with Retty. It’s a Meet and Greet with Mint “I Roam Alone.” Thank you everyone for joining me
and sharing wonderful meals with me today. The food today has been very different and eye-opening. If you want to take a Retty tour like this you can follow Retty
at Retty Thailand Facebook Fanpage. You can also download the Retty app to your phone. So, that’s it for our trip in rainy Bangkok today. Bye bye! Say ‘bye,’ everyone! Bye bye!
