(If you’re currently on a diet,) (or need to save money,) (hit the ‘back’ button right now.) *Thirsty Korean TV* I review all~~~ the Anjus (food eaten with drinks) in the world! Charm PD here from Thirsty Korean TV! Good to see you all! Hello to all my fans! So today, Have you guys heard of cymbium pepo (giant sea snail)? Most of you wouldn’t know what they are. Because they are rarely eaten by themselves. In jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), you can find tender squid-like meat. The meat that you wish there were more of. This is that meat. They look like this. You can’t really tell what they are. They’re called cymbium pepo. It’s pre-boiled meat. And they’re from Senegal! Some of you may not know the meaning of pre-boiled. These have been boiled and then instantly frozen. They’re sent like this. I’ve purchased 600g. It cost 8,300 KRW(7.3 USD). Some might think it’s expensive, and some might not. But you should note that it’s 600g of pure meat! Let’s check the weight. Scale’s set to zero. It’s 623g! Approved! So how should you eat it? First, defrost it. Then boil in water. You can slice it and have it with chojang (vinegary pepper sauce), wasabi with soy sauce, or with sesame oil sauce. We always want more of them when eating jjamppong. Now you can put loads of them in your jjamppong! You can add boiled slices to jjol-myun (spicy cold chewy noodles) or bibim-myun (spicy cold noodles). It will be kind of like golbang-yi muchim (spicy sea snail salad). Enough said. Let’s try them right away! *Thirsty Korean TV* They’re huge! If you look, they’ve removed the other parts. This is all meat. This is the sucker. Looks like pickled radish. They can be eaten boiled and sliced. Or used in other various dishes. Looks unique, right? First of all, I’m gonna add loads of this to jjamppong ramen. It’ll be a jjamppong ramen anju with lots to eat. And I’ll be parboiling some. Since they’re cold now, I’ll have to parboil them. I don’t need to parboil the ones I’m adding to the ramen. I’ll slice them now. Let’s see how much we can get from a big piece. It kind of feels like beef tongue. The water’s about to boil. I’ll add them now. (I’ll eat them parboiled.) I’ll add this much to the ramen. It’s quite a lot. There’s plenty. They’ve been heated. If you want a soft texture, you should boil for more than 10 minutes. If you prefer a more chewy texture, boil them for about 5 minutes. The longer you boil, the softer the meat becomes. I’m gonna take them out now. Use the same water to cook the jjamppong ramen. Jin Jjamppong! I’m gonna cook two. Will it be a tasty anju? You can see ingredients that look like squid. We’ll be having loads of it! (mix the noodles with the soup) At this point, You can add as much cymbium pepo as you want to the ramen. I’ll be cooking an anju for 3 – 4 people. I’m adding this much. Put’em in. And let’s slice these. Look at the meat. It’s so nice! It’s huge. And the rest has been sliced up. Parboiled. Looks amazing, right? Add the sauce and it’s ready. This is 2 Jin Jjamppongs and $7.3 worth of cymbium pepo. That’s roughly 10,000 KRW(8.8 USD) total. There’s plenty to eat! You can find very thin slices of these in jjamppong. I’ve added thick slices! With the meat alone, you could finish 5 bottles of soju! Let’s pour some soju. I’ve waited so long. You must be curious. How will the meat taste? Looks like this. I’ll try it with the sesame oil sauce. You know how sea snails and conches are very chewy? This isn’t as chewy. It’s less chewy. It has a soft chewiness. The flavor doesn’t have a strong scent. But it does have the unique scent of sea snails. And has a light bitter finish. It’s a very nice anju. It’s tasty. It’s a very nice cheap alternative. It’s good. Charm! Charm! Charm~! It’s a fabulous anju! Sesame oil. You should have it with sesame oil. Or with soy sauce. It’s less chewier than octopus. But with the sesame oil, it feels a lot like octopus. It tastes like that. It doesn’t have the rich scent of sea snails or conches. But has a light sweetness and a light bitter finish. You can enjoy a light texture. It’s delicious. Next, The meat with jjamppong ramen. Like this. It’s just like when you’re having jjamppong. It’s an anju! Parboiled ones are simple and nice. But they’ll also be great ingredients for soup or muchim (spicy salad). The meat. Nice and chewy. Haven’t had Jin Jjamppong in a while. It’s so good! It’s not just noodles. The cymbium pepo makes it much more delicious! This time with spring onion kimchi. With 2 pieces if meat. Like this. Spring onion kimchi and cymbium pepo. I want to add this to bibim-myun. It will be so tasty! You can’t eat sea snail like this anywhere else. You can feast on sea snail for less than $9! Like this. The texture is somewhere in the middle of parboiled squid and sea snail. It also has a very light soft texture. This is an unknown taste. But it’s a perfect anju! And it’s a simple ingredient you can use in various dishes. Anyone would like these. It does have the unique bitter finish of sea snails. But it isn’t that strong, which is nice. Charm! Charm! Charm~! With some spring onion kimchi. Like this. And of course the sea snail. The scent of the cymbium pepo boosts the seafood flavor. So tasty! This soup makes me forget about the parboiled ones which are tasty as well. I love the texture! It’s sea snail you eat for the texture. *Final Verdict* Today I had cymbium pepo, parboiled and with ramen. When eaten by itself, it lacks scent and flavor compared to other conches. That’s why they’re cheap. But when you’re cooking a dish, like ramen, muchim, or a soup, you can add these in. You’ll get a richer flavor. It’s a very nice ingredient! It lacks a bit of scent to be eaten by itself. You could get bored easily since the flavor is a bit bland. But it has a unique texture and is tasty. The texture makes it a great ramen ingredient. Or have some parboiled slices with the ramen. Especially, if you add slices of these and veggies to bibim-myun or jjol-myun, it will be as nice as sea snail muchim. It’s an ingredient with nice texture. They’ve been pre-boiled, so you can slice them up into small portions. And add lots of them when you cook ramen. This will be a very useful ingredient. I think they deserve to take up some space in your freezer. Oh, and when you order jjamppong for delivery, you could heat these up in the microwave, slice them, and add to the jjamppong. I think it will upgrade your jjamppong to a higher level. Anyways, I had a good meal. Well folks! This was Charm PD from the Thirsty Korean TV! If you liked this video… (Like & Subscribe) Please~! I’ll see you all next time! Bye~! Signing off! *Thirsty Korean TV*
