Hey guys,
Things are a little quiet here at the moment as I am waiting on some interviews and images to come in so I thought I’d post up a little video that was made about 2 years ago after a striking session for some of the juniors I work with at my academy who were looking to develop their skipping for conditioning.
Like all the old school training modalities there is not much that can match skipping for all round fitness.
How many of you use it in your conditioning programme?
Enjoy!
Dave

2010 has not been a bad year for US Brazilian Jiu Jitsu sensation Hillary Williams.
On 11th April 2010 she won gold in her weight category and bronze in the Absolute division at the 2010 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Pan-Am Championships and then, in the same month scooped a bronze at the inaugural women’s event at the Abu Dhabi Pro.
Earlier this month she scooped her biggest win to date by becoming only the second US female Brazilian Ju Jitsu World Champion [after Lana Stefanac in 2009] at the 2010 Mundials in Long …

Interview: David Webb, 13th June 2010
With only a week since the passing of the 2010 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Mundials it would seem fitting for KombatClinic.com to interview yet another world champion from the world of BJJ and get their inside take on how the championship panned out over the course of the 5th & 6th of June (don’t worry that’s coming).
But I decided a long time ago to try and get an interview with the only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt in Ireland – John Kavanagh.
John is someone I have …

Robson “Robinho” Moura began his training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at the age of 10 after his father took him to an academy in his hometown of Teresopolis (a small town in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). A beginner’s guide to the centre line hypothesis
Roy Dean, in his DVD ‘Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: Purple belt requirements’, spoke of depth of knowledge versus breadth of knowledge and encouraged that rather than attempting to assimilate and amass numerous skill sets, to look deeper and understand the concepts and principles that underpin each skill. In the same vein BJJ Black belt Roy Harris has warned not to become a “collector of techniques” or someone more infatuated with developing flair than actually being able to use basic fundamental skills in ‘live’ randori.
If …

Hey guys,
I thought I’d upload this brief post as it something we are doing at my academy with all the members and thought it might be cool to get some of the readers on board as well – it’s all about the participation!
